Through weekly classroom and hands on training, quarterly live fire evolutions and one on one instructor training, we offer firefighter certifications from introductory to advanced firefighter through the State Firemen's and Firemarshals' Association of Texas. We have eight SFFMA certified instructors to assist in this process as well as several experienced firefighters and commisioned firefighters.

How it works: The best option is to come by one of our training sessions at the station and pick up an application.  By coming to a training session, you will gain an insight into the department, see how are training activities are conducted, and you will meet our firefighters in person and be able to ask any questions you may have.  This is the best way to see if a membership with our department is right for you.  We hold training sessions every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.  We also hold special training drills on other dates and times.  You show up with an interest to three consecutive Tuesday night trainings, this gives you time to learn how the fire department operates and to see if volunteering is right for you.  Show a high level of commitment and dedication to the department and the members and on the third Tuesday you will be voted on, by the members, to join the department as a probationary trainee.  Once approved, you will be issued all necessary equipement at no cost and your training will begin as a probationary trainee.  You will serve a minimum of 90 days in probationary status. With the completion of introductory firefighter through SFFMA, a live fire evolution, and an evaluation of your level of competence and knowledge by the Chief officers, you will be signed off to run calls and promoted to probationary firefighter.  From there, with time and continued training, you control your future!
